CSW66 (2022)
The sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 25 March 2022.
This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, CSW66 side events in addition to Parallel events held by Non-Governmental Organisations, will take place virtually.
The Priority theme is ‘Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes’, and the Review Theme is ‘Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work’ (the agreed conclusions of the sixty-first session).

Following many hours of discussion and negotiation, the Commission on the Status of Women in its 66th session (CSW66) finally adopted by consensus the Agreed Conclusions on the priority theme ‘Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies, and programmes.
This CSW66 event focused on the feminisation of climate change by sharing women's best practices from Nepal and Taiwan.
Women, Water and Climate Change: Roles and Risks Tackling the Challenges, highlighted the importance of enabling and empowering women to contribute to effective climate action, and demonstrated the necessity of integrating gender-responsive approaches to climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes.
Our role as advocates is to continue to sound the alarm on the important issues addressed at CSW66 such as gender, climate, as well as old age.
