The International President’s Appeal 2019 – 2021, promotes awareness and takes action on violence against women and girls
SI President Sharon Fisher’s The Road to Equality President’s Appeal – strategically focuses on taking Action and Advocating on topics affecting women and girls, including Child Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, Domestic Violence, Rights of Older Women, Migration, and Human Trafficking.
The Appeal incorporates a mix of projects, alongside information, and education, to build awareness and engage Soroptimists and friends through discussion. The SI Voices Webinars, featured a range of experts and grassroots activists on the key subjects.
Through access to tools, facts and stories, we believe that each of us will be able to raise our capacity to be a global voice for women on our journey towards achieving gender equality. The topics and pages below will develop and expand over time, so please do revisit this page regularly.
The next stop on the Road to Equality is the topic of FGM - SI upholds a human rights-based approach to policies and programmes aimed at ending harmful traditional practices.

Many older women are valuable contributors to their families, their communities, and to the national economy, however, others find themselves in a position of vulnerability. SI calls to denounce the tendency for older women to be 'invisible', not just from policies and programmes, but from society as a whole.
Women and girls are forced to migrate for the same reasons that men and boys do – poverty, economic inequalities, oppression, conflict, war, disasters and the impact of climate change. However, women and girls face additional factors compelling them to leave their homes, and they face additional challenges along migration routes.
SI and the Road to Equality understands Child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) as a human rights violation that disproportionately affects women and girls globally, preventing many from living their lives free from all forms of violence.
As we journey on the Road to Equality, SI works globally to End Human Trafficking, recognising it as a heinous violation of fundamental human rights.
