Soroptimist International Foundation: Fundación Moisés Bertoni, Paraguay

Soroptimist International Foundation has partnered with Fundación Moisés Bertoni (FMB), in Paraguay to support education, environmental stewardship and empowerment through sport and conservation management learning. This collaboration focuses particularly on the inclusion and development of indigenous girls, who often face multiple barriers to education and personal advancement.

At the heart of the project is a boarding school run by FMB, which provides a safe and supportive environment for students—especially girls from remote and indigenous communities—to pursue their education. Recognising the importance of physical activity in developing leadership, teamwork and self-confidence, Soroptimist International Foundation contributed to the creation of a new sports centre on the school campus. This facility enables students to engage in sports and recreational activities, fostering both physical health and social cohesion.
Beyond sport, the project has a strong focus on environmental education. Students are encouraged to become stewards of their natural surroundings through hands-on learning and sustainability practices. This aligns with SI’s commitment to climate action and the empowerment of girls through knowledge and leadership opportunities.

The partnership also reflects SI’s broader goals to support projects that are locally grounded but globally significant—projects that not only uplift individual lives but also contribute to community resilience and environmental sustainability. By supporting indigenous girls in Paraguay to stay in school, become active learners, and grow into environmentally aware citizens, Soroptimist International and Fundación Moisés Bertoni are creating real and lasting change.
